Lily James plays free-spirited writer Juliet Ashton, who forms a life-changing bond with the delightful and eccentric Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, when she decides to write about the book club they formed during the occupation of Guernsey in WWII.
That Good Night
That Good Night stars award winner, John Hurt (The Elephant Man, Midnight Express) in his last leading role as Ralph, a once-famous film director in his seventies who has two missions in life. Ralph wishes to be reconciled with his son, Michael (Max Brown, Spooks), and, to ensure that he is not a burden to his devoted wife, Anna (Sofia Helin, The Bridge), as he goes “into that good night”. Ralph hires the services of the mysterious “Visitor” (Charles Dance, Game of Thrones) who unexpectedly guides him to find new meaning in his life.
French Impressions – 120 BPM (Beats Per Minute)
In the early 90s, with AIDS having already claimed countless lives for nearly a decade, activist group ACT UP takes their actions to another level in order to fight general indifference. Nathan, a newcomer to the group, has his world shaken up by radical militant Sean.
120 BPM (Beats Per Minute) was the critical and awards success on 2017 winning 6 Césars, the French Oscar equivalent. Jon Davies introduces it and takes us on a tour of other French films that gained such critical and popular acclaim. He will be sharing clips from some real treats and bringing some surprises.
