Hounslow Heritage Walks

The Farnell Family & Isleworth Brewery

When:
2.30pm, Monday 28 May (Bank Holiday Monday)

What:
A good way to explore the rich history of the ancient towns and villages that make up the Borough of Hounslow is to take a tour with an accredited Hounslow Heritage Guide. Regular guided walks are held in Brentford, Chiswick and Isleworth from June to October. All are taken at a gentle pace and last around 90 minutes.

On this walk you will discover the history of the Isleworth Brewery, which stood just off St. John’s Road, which links Old Isleworth to Hounslow. Bought in 1800 by local businessman William Farnell, the brewery supplied ales, hocks and porters to the public houses of Hounslow, Brentford, Ealing, Hammersmith and beyond. Brewing ceased in 1952 and the site was used for bottling until it closed in the 1990s.

Where:
All Saints’ Church, 63 Church Street, Isleworth, TW7 6BE
