Hounslow Heritage Walks
2.30pm, Sunday 15 July
A good way to explore the rich history of the ancient towns and villages that make up the Borough of Hounslow is to take a tour with an accredited Hounslow Heritage Guide. Regular guided walks are held in Brentford, Chiswick and Isleworth from June to October. All are taken at a gentle pace and last around 90 minutes.
This walk explores the industrial heritage and imposing mansions of the riverside promenade, finishing at the Hammersmith border. We know that one of the houses in Chiswick Mall was visited by Queen Elizabeth I and that Charles II bought the Jacobean Chiswick House for his son the Duke of Monmouth. The King’s mistress Barbara Villiers ended her days in Walpole House and many of the houses of Chiswick Mall have had famous occupants.
