Devonshire Rd Street Party
Annual event not taking place in 2018
For a number of years the businesses of Devonshire Rd have thrown a street party in September. Devonshire Rd, off Chiswick High Rd, has a collection of independent businesses – dress shops, barbers, restaurants, cafes which are interesting places to while away the time. The main organiser is Mike Moran of Top Hat cleaners. The event didn’t happen in 2018 sadly he says through lack of support, but in previous years there has been live music all day, a street walker, children’s games and plenty of food and drink.

In past years Ray Lowe has entertained the crowd, singing the Rat Pack songs of Dean Martin, Tony Bennett, Sammy Davis Jnr, Matt Monro and Frank Sinatra and Elvis impersonator Trevor Dodson has paid tribute to the King. Nolita Golding, Marina Simioni and Tom Lukas, who regularly plays in George IV, were among the performers in 2017.
Every year there has been a hog roast, the proceeds from which went to the W4 Youth charity, a community youth project for 11-19 year olds in west London. Set up in 2009 the group now has over 300 young people involved in its activities. After her son was shot in the face one afternoon after school, Sally Chacatte, Founder and Chair of W4 Youth created the charity with the vision to build a youth and community centre in W4 to give the young people of the area somewhere safe to go and something good to do 7 days a week.
Little Kickers and Chiswick Rugby Club are usually on hand at the street party for a kick about with children and little ones are entranced by the enormous lady blowing bubbles – aka the stilt walker.
