Chiswick Swift Project
7.30pm, Monday 11 June
Upstairs in the Game Room at The George IV, 185 Chiswick High Rd, Chiswick, W4 2DR
An informal meeting to welcome the Swift season and talk about what the Chiswick Swift Project discovered last summer. Everyone who cares about swifts is invited!
Swifts has been very late arriving this year, (as all over the UK). A first few made it back home to Chiswick on 7th May from their 5,000 to 7,000-mile migration, just a day later than last year, but then nothing more until Friday 18th. Suddenly the sky is alive again with that amazing site and sound of summer.
The Chiswick Swift Project need more volunteers from all over W4 to join the Chiswick Swift Watch and Big Chiswick Swift Count – especially in the eastern part of Chiswick, both north and south of the High Road, in the streets from Heathfield Terrace to the A4, and in the big loop of Chiswick between the A4 and the river.
Swifts are Amber-listed in the UK as Birds of Conservation Concern. Come and find out about the project over a drink at the George IV (opposite Waterstones & M&S).
