Chiswick House & Gardens, Burlington Lane, W4 2RP

Chiswick House is a beautiful example of Georgian architecture. Built by Lord Burlington as an extravagant party venue, the neo-Palladian villa was famous in its heyday during the 18th and 19th centuries for some of the most sumptuous entertainments ever held in Britain. The rich decoration and many paintings are well worth the entrance fee. The house is open 10.00 am – 5.00 pm at weekends in 2018 from Saturday 24 February until Easter weekend (Friday 31 March – Monday 2 April) and then open every day except Tuesday for the rest of the year until 31 October.

The gardens are considered the birthplace of the English Landscape Movement and the inspiration for great gardens such as Blenheim Palace and Central Park in New York. Winner of London In Bloom Heritage Park of the Year in 2017, the 64 acre estate also won Gold for its walled garden, a vegetable garden kept by the volunteers who also sell its produce, and it was voted London In Bloom People’s Choice for parks. The gardens are open from 7.00 am till dusk every day. Dogs welcome. Café open every day from 8.30 am. There are pedestrian entrances on all sides of the park, on Staveley Rd, Park Rd, Burlington Lane and the A4. Access by car from the A4.

Entry to the Gardens and Conservatory are free.
Tickets to the House are £7.50, concession £5. People under 18 go free.
